Udit Satsangi

​My journey into functional medicine began with a moment of deep frustration and vulnerability. I remember visiting a prominent endocrinologist at a prestigious Hospital in South  Mumbai. I walked in with health concerns—overwhelming fatigue and exhaustion—and hoped for some answers. Instead, after recounting his own 18-hour workdays, the doctor dismissed me with a line that still echoes in my mind: “Beta, you’re just being lazy.”

 

I was stunned. His lack of empathy and quick judgment left me in tears. As I walked out of his office, I knew something was deeply flawed in how conventional medicine approached chronic and unexplained symptoms. I realized I needed to find another path—one that addressed root causes rather than offering quick dismissals.

 

That’s when I discovered Functional Medicine.

 

I found a practitioner, booked an appointment, and began my healing journey. I overhauled my nutrition with healthy fats, proteins, reduced refined carbs, and introduced targeted testing and supplementation. The improvements were almost immediate. I added practices like Tai Chi, Qigong, Breathwork, Chanting, Yoga, and Mindful Walking. My energy started to return, my body began to heal, and for the first time in a long while—I felt hopeful.

 

Seeing this transformation, I felt an inner calling to help others experience the same. Under the mentorship of Dr. Shabnam Das Kar, I enrolled in the 11-month Functional Medicine Certified Health Coaching (FMCHC) program by FMCA, affiliated with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM,USA)—widely regarded as the gold standard in this field.

 

In October 2021, I launched Sat Health and Wellness focussing on health products, organic groceries, and high- quality  supplements, while pursuing my certification. In the first year itself, I also completed an advanced IFM course focused on coaching perimenopausal and menopausal women.

 

In August 2022, I officially became a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. I began to specialize in elimination diets for conditions such as autoimmune disorders and gastrointestinal imbalances. My expertise led me to participate in three coaching initiatives organized by IFM, where I coached multiple batches of MD-level doctors, helping them integrate Functional Medicine Health Coaching into their practices. Many of them continued their personal coaching journeys with me and began referring clients—a source of growth that continues to this day.

 

In December 2024, I was honored at the Health 2.0 Conference in Dubai, where I served as a panelist and moderator, speaking on “The Role of Mind-Body Practices in Modern Healthcare” and “Modern vs Traditional Medicine—Are We Building Bridges or Barriers?”

 

In January 2024, I upskilled further by completing a six-month Clinical Nutrition course in Functional Medicine through IAFM. Currently, I am constantly upscaling myself in numerous courses to deepen my knowledge and keep myself up to date.

 

Today, I run a thriving practice with a strong online presence and a loyal client base, built entirely through word of mouth. I remain committed to a personalized, root-cause approach to health, combining science-backed nutrition with the power of breath, movement, and mindfulness.
